Who we are

Ebonyi Women’s Alliance in Diaspora UK (EWAD UK) is a non-profit organisation of women from Ebonyi State, Nigeria living in the United Kingdom. Since 28th February 2015, EWAD UK has provided a forum to empower women living in the diaspora and in Ebonyi state.

Our organisation strives to provide a safe, supportive network to uplift women in the UK throughout their daily lives. Through our social groups we share stories, inspirations and help support our members through celebrations and in times of need. As a community we believe it is important to teach others about Ebonyi state and the Igbo culture. In our cooking classes we teach our members how to prepare traditional recipes and through our events we showcase traditional dancing.

We share and provide opportunities for all our members to develop career skills though workshops and networking events. Our EWAD money growth scheme allows our members to improve their finances and make major project investments. EWAD consists of a wide age range of women with a large variety of skills and life experiences. We provide opportunities and events for our younger members and our children. We want to help build the bond between the generations as well as celebrate and enjoy our culture.

Our goal lies not only in the diaspora but also in the advancement of our community in Ebonyi State Nigeria. We aim to help raise the standard of living for impoverished women and children through initiatives including those centred on hygiene packs for young girls. Knowledge is the window to success and as such we believe that the education of our youth is essential. We help support children by providing back to school bag packs, desks and chairs to local primary schools in Ebonyi State.

EWAD is a young organisation which is growing every day. We welcome new members who are keen to join our community of women and help deliver our vision.
