I wish everyone a happy International Women's Day. International Women's Day is the day that is specially dedicated to women, praising them for the tremendous effort that they put in for everyone.
The theme of this year's International Women's Day is #EmbraceEquity
Equity isn't just 'nice-to-have', it is 'a must have'. A focus on gender equity needs to be part of everyone's DNA especially as it affects the female gender. Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.
As we celebrate the International Women's today, I would like to remind all Ebonyi Women (and girls) Alliance in Diaspora (EWAD) as well as all the world over that we must bear in mind that the aim of the IWD, 2023 is to #EmbraceEquity. This campaign is aimed to increase conversation around the globe about the current lack of sufficient equitable opportunities. People start from different places, so, true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.
We can all truly embrace equity. It's not just something we say, it's not just something we write about. It's something we need to think about, know, value and embrace. It's what we believe in, unconditionally. Equity means creating an inclusive world. Each one of us can actively support and embrace equity within our own sphere of influence. We can all challenge gender stereotypes, call out discrimination, draw attention to bias, and seek out inclusion.
Collective activism is what drives change. From grassroots action to wide-scale momentum, we can all embrace equity
On behalf of the entire EWAD, I would like to thank you all for being the women you are and making EWAD fulfil her vision of success.
Happy International Women's Day to all of us!
